What is Unspoken Gods?
Have you ever considered the possibility that there are other beings living amongst us, unseen and fleeting through multiple realities? Maybe you believe in angels and demons, or you’ve had paranormal experiences you can’t logically explain?
That’s what Unspoken Gods is about. I’m here to create my personal vision of what lies just beyond what our eyes see. Gods, angels, demons, and other beings said to be mythological or paranormal in nature.
To explain why I chose this as a project, I’ll have to explain a bit more about myself.
My name is Kimberley Crawford, and I’m the artist and sole creator here for Unspoken Gods. I grew up reading ghost stories and tales of the old world gods, as well as growing up in a religious family while I, myself, am not necessarily a religious person. I think that’s what drew me to the tales in the first place.
I’ve always been fascinated by what lies beyond the veil. Those things we hear accounts of, that people claim to have experiences with. I have had plenty of my own experiences, and yet I am drawn more and more to the study and exploration of that other reality.
I won’t go into details about my personal beliefs, as they don’t really matter when it comes to the art itself and how you choose to interpret each piece.
This project is an exploration of sorts. It’s for myself, mostly, but also for anyone who connects with the beings I present. In some cases those angels will be the same type of angels you would expect - big feathery wings and white robes. But in other cases, I hope to turn expectations around and show a deeper side to things.
Yes, a lot of my beings will be humanoid. Some won’t, but a lot will have at least a version of themselves that can pass for more human. This is a personal choice, as I plan to reveal other characteristics for certain characters in the future.
I plan to explore the many aspects of the beings I paint, from good to bad and everything in between. I hope to give them personalities and histories, stories of their own. I hope to give them life, so to speak.
And that’s where you come in. I set up this website to share with you the project that I’ve held so dear for so many years, in the hopes that you will find something in it that will resonate with you and your own experiences.
So take a look around, check out the galleries, and enjoy your visit!
